The Scarlet City - Twilight Zone–esque Short Fiction

There is a sprawling city, vast and impenetrable, that has been standing in a space beyond space since a time before time. It's a city of red dreams and black nightmares, brimming with stories of wretchedness and virtue, of peoples, fates, justices, and illusions. It's a place you might recognize, where every man finds himself one day, at the end of a long road. A city which goes by many names and has many doors, all of which only lead you in deeper, like the yawning jaws of the abyss – or like drowning in a cold, black sea. It's a place that pulls people in and doesn't let go, like moths into flame – and when you walk in through its doors, your wings, too, may burn in anguish. So pull up a chair, brew a coffee, make yourself comfortable, and prepare to spend a vision with me, as, in this series, I invite you to witness what lurks beyond the threshold... of the Scarlet City.
